Three Valleys picnic spots
With the Alpine rays shining on half term skiers, here are our favourite places to sit and soak up the sun (wearing factor 50 of course):
Al fresco picnic spots:
- Top of Signal or Chapelets chairs, Courchevel Moriond - quiet peaceful spots with nice views of the Breche de la Portetta (the jagged and curved rocks in the Vanoise National Park area) Apparently the remains of a WW2 aircraft can be seen the other side!
- Top of La Saulire, Courchevel 1850 - you feel like you're on top of the world with these breath-taking views. Don't forget a camera!
- Top of Creux Noir chair - the barrier and signs mean that the area isn't blasted for avalanches to make it safe to ski, but if you head back down the red/black pistes after your scenic picnic you'll be safe as houses and the views of Meribel and beyond are stunning.
Snack bars:
- Le Bouc Blanc. The new snack area on the side of this friendly restaurant at the top of La Tania's bubble lift is definitely worth a stop.
- Le Bel Air, at the top of Ariondaz bubble in Moriond, serves soup, hot dogs and sarnies at a reasonable price.
- Le Courchneige on Bellecote in 1850 is a nice place to sit and it's easily accessible for beginners. The main restaurant also does a reasonably priced buffet lunch.
